pinewood derby '08

This page is based on a sketch I created for the sketch challenge at Allyscraps! You can check out the sketch challenge thread on the forum there - there is a chance to win a prize each month!
Journaling:
You and Daddy did a great job working together on your car for your very first Cub Scouts’ pinewood derby! January 2008

ready set go!

I love these pictures of Tyler on the slide at a playground last spring! How cool is he in those shades? LOL! Perfect for the Kaisercraft papers in the Scrapdango kit! And this page is based on my featured sketch for March, which you can check out in the Scrapdango gallery!
Journaling:
Wheeeeeeee!!! Look at how much fun you’re having! Not that long ago, you wouldn’t even go down a slide. Now you’ll spend Ryan’s entire baseball game playing on the playground! Ready, set, GO! Keep sliding, and keep smiling, sweetie! I love to see that happy grin.

firehouse fun

These papers by Kaisercraft are so fun, perfect for boy pages! This is another one from the Scrapdango March kit.
Journaling:
For the Go See It activity for the Tiger Cub Achievement #2 – Where We Live” – the Den got to go visit the McKeesport Firehouse and see how real firemen do their job! The whole gang had a lot of fun, even getting to sit in the fire truck, try on the uniforms, see the firemen’s sleeping quarters and learn something about their jobs. Ryan’s favorite part of it, though, was getting to punch the punching bag that was hanging in the workout area! What a great, fun-filled way to learn a little more about our community, and the people who serve in it.

sweet dreamer

Another one from Scrapdango's latest kit! The kit includes a sheet of Bazzill's In Stitch'z cardstock with the stars pattern, which I used as template to punch holes into the brown cardstock for this page.

Journaling:
You insisted on wearing your sunglasses in the house. A few minutes later, I found you crashed on the floor! 9/07

turtle time

The March Spice kit from Scrapdango!
Journaling:
The turtle ride in Raccoon Lagoon at Idlewild – it’s definitely a unanimous family favorite! Tyler and Daddy took a spin this time around, and as usual, had a blast! June 15, 2007

snow buddies

Another variation on my sketch. Used American Craft papers, BG chipboard letters (painted and inked), HS ghost snowflakes, bling, index tab and chipboard phrase, Luxe Designs jotter journaling block, MM sheer frame.

Journaling:

It wasn't a lot of snow, but it was sufficient for some backyard sledding fun! You and Ryan took turns riding down the hill with Daddy, laughing and squealing with delight, each time. Feb. 3, 2007.

the magic of Christmas

I did this page to go with one of my sketches for the Sketch Challenge over at Allyscraps! The papers, large title letters, and die-cut tags are all from the Sassafras Lass Starry Night line.

Journaling:

Such an exciting night! I'm sure that Santa's Reindeer must have appreciated the magic reindeer food that we left out for them.

natural wonder

I don't believe that I will EVER get tired of this Basic Grey Mellow! Also used Making Memories metal embellies, AMM brads, older BG letters and rub-on.

Journaling:

What perfect weather we had to enjoy a beautiful summer day at South Park. After a fun time in the VIP area with the go carts, bumper boats and mini golf, we made our way over to the Game Preserve. There aren’t really all that many animals there, but it’s still a nice walk in a lovely setting. After watching the ducks and spotting some turtles in the pond, we walked up the path and checked out the buffalo. They were impressive, but stinky! Ryan thought he saw some wild turkeys in the woods and went on a reconnaissancemission looking for them, but they had run away.July 1, 2007

just one... please!

Another page with the fun Scenic Route Christmas line, for Allyscraps!

Journaling:I just need one good picture for the Christmas card – is that too much to ask?

not this year

Used Scenic Route Roxbury for this page, from Allyscraps!

Journaling: We thought this might be the year that you were ready to see Santa. You were so excited - right up to the last minute, when you just couldn't do it. Maybe next year!

music from the heart

I'm not usually a glitter-and-bling kinda scrapper, but I can't help but LOVE these gorgeous Imaginisce Candy Cane Lane papers! The title letters are raw chipboard that I painted and then added a coat or glitter glaze. Most of the supplies are from Allyscraps.com.

a chip off the old block

The February kit from Scrapdango might be my favorite one yet! As always, loaded with paper - this time from Mustard Moon. Black alpha stickers in a great font, Luxe Designs jotters journaling spots, Scenic Route arrows and rub-ons, and how cute are the Maya Road keychain people??

Journaling:
"Mommy, come see my train table - look what I did!" You were so proud to show me how carefully you had reorganized your train cars and accessories in their bins. Right away, I thought of Daddy's tool chest - everything neat and tidy, in its place! You and Daddy don't just look alike, you ask so similar - you are 2 of a kind! 1/08

day at the museum

I really wanted to use the oversized dinosaur picture in this 2-pager! Love how those fun Scenic Route arrows worked on this page, too. The orange letter stickers are available as an add-on to the kit (which includes the black stickers in the same font). You can check out Scrapdango to see my sketch for this layout!

Journaling:
After waiting over a year for renovations to be done in Dinosaur Hall, we finally got back to The Carnegie Museum of Natural History to see the new exhibit! Unfortunately, the T-Rex display won’t be done until spring, but there were lots of other dinosaurs to see. To add to the fun, Jacob and his mom came with us for the day. The boys were awed by the massive dinosaur skeletons, and had fun digging for bones themselves in the Bonehunters Quarry. They didn’t unearth any startling new species, but they did have a positively fabulous Day at the Museum!

easy does it

I've had these pictures for a while and wanted to scrap them. Scrapdango's February kit was perfect! I used a lot of the rub-ons included in the kit for this page.

Journaling:

Now this is some serious business! Look at the concentration on that face. Just one wrong move could mean... disaster! Easy does it Ryan - you are doing a great job!

active learning

This kit is so loaded, like all of Carrie's kits at Scrapdango!

Journaling:
This was really some "hands on fun!" Our first Cub Scout Den outing to the Oliver Miller Homestead for the children's harvest festival.
